Flea spray for the house can quickly eliminate fleas if you have a minor outbreak and need to take care of the situation before it turns into a full house flea infestation. Once you have gotten to the point of a full flea infestation, you probably will be better off using a flea bomb. I’ll discuss a little bit about flea sprays that can be used in the home and how to further prevent flea infestations.

As you may know, fleas increase in numbers extremely rapidly. Did you know that one single flea can lay as much as 500 eggs at a time? One other interesting fact is that the pupils can actually stay inactive until they are stimulated for very long periods of time. Generally a fleas eggs take about 7-14 days to mature and become ready for hatching.

As stated above, it is very important to get the correct flea spray for the house that will work on eggs and young fleas as well as the adults. You really need a wide or broad spectrum flea killer for the job.

How to properly us flea spray for the home

In order to get the most out of your flea spray you will want to get some ideas on how to use it properly. Fleas are very smart and can find ways to hide or clean themselves off. It is very important that you do not give up, every time you give up spraying or fogging, you will have another outbreak and the flea problem just gets worse.

I recommend using a good flea powder on the floor first. I generally use a flea powder that is designed to kill fleas. Just a light sprinkle of flea powder on your floor, let it set for awhile and then vacuum it up. Once the vacuuming is done, I generally buy some table salt.

The theory behind using table salt to kill fleas is that the flea will start to eat the salt, which leads to dehydration and soon after death. I sprinkle all floors with the salt and leave that there for a few hours or better yet, overnight. Once the salt has had time to settle, you will want to go through again and do a good vacuum job on the area.

You should change your vacuum bag or clean out your vacuum soon after doing any vacuuming on a floor that may be infested with fleas or other insects as they can live inside the bag for awhile.

Make sure to get wide spectrum flea spray for home use

As I have stated before, there are a few flea sprays on the market that will only work on baby fleas and there are others that will work only on fleas that are alive. A lot of the sprays on the market will only work on adults. Again, if you have a real outbreak you will want to get a flea spray that is designed to kill eggs, young fleas and mature fleas.

If you don’t get rid of the fleas 100%, say you only kill 85% of them with the wrong flea spray, its that 15% that will come back and create another full force flea infestation within a few weeks.

If your house has fleas in every room, it may be advisable to just skip this step and start off with the vacuuming with flea powder, vacuuming with salt and then following up with a frew flea foggers or flea bombs. Flea foggers and flea bombs do a great job of killing off and maintaining a flea free home.

Overall, if you live in a small apartment and you have just found that you have a couple of fleas near the couch or where a cat or dog may be sleeping, it doesn’t hurt to jump online and grab a spray bottle of flea killer. If you find that you have a widespread problem and you don’t think that flea spray for the house will do the job, you should look into flea bombs as an alternative.
